Katherine Therese Flynn
Doctoral Student
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Mary's University (SMU) of Winona, Minnestoa in 2008 with a major in Chemistry and a minor in English. While at SMU I was also one of the founding members of the Saint Teresa Leadership and Service Institute for Women, a women's leadership and public service organization. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree I returned to my much-beloved hometown of Chicago, Illinois to pursue a Maser of Science Degree in Chemistry at DePaul University in Lincoln Park, Illinois. As an Undergraduate and as a Master's student my research focused primarily on organic polymer synthesis and characterization. After graduating from Depaul in 2010, I moved to Carbondale to pursue my PhD in Chemistry here is SIUC under the direction of Dr. Punit Kohli. My work here primarily focuses on substrate patterning and microscopy. I love cooking, going out to eat, the beach and am an avid runner. I also love spending time with my friends and family in my beloved Sweet Home Chicago.
