Broader Impact
In the Nano Exploration Research and Development (N.E.R.D.) Lab, one of our fundamental motivations is how our work affects the immediate community and society at large. This mission is the corner-stone of the research we are involved in as well as the extra-curricular activities we participate in.
In the NERD group we regularly participate in community outreach programs that foster and promote our research mission to younger students. Annually, we work with the Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) Program. This program brings area High-School students to our lab so that we can introduce them to higher academic research and give them a taste for what life is like as a graduate researcher.
